Urban Drop-Out Rates at Catastrophic Levels by Marc H. Morial
This article is from the Afro American
I was surprised to find that not only my county have a low graduation but all of the United States. In the beginning paragraph alone Mr. Morial hits you with the percentages of high schools and college graduates, showing an 18% difference in the two numbers. He also show specific percentages of some states which have a lower rate than the overall percentage of the United States. Mr. Morial later goes to point out that the National Urban League (an organization in which he is the president and CEO) is reaching out to urban communities to influence them to continue their education.

National Solution to Black High School Dropout by Dr.Benjamin F. Chavis
This is a newspaper article from the Chicago Defender.
In this article they pin point the reasons and solution to solve the drop out rate of African Americans living in the United States. Dr. Chavis also discusses different situations he had to face growing up, explaining evening though he faced many problems he still fought through it to reach where he is now. He believes that the African Americans that have decided to drop out are only running away from their problems instead of facing them; which they should do. As a closing remark in his article he reinforces his idea of getting these drop outs to return to school, only if they want to. Dr. Chavis believes that education is the key to unlock anything in this world, so he personally is reaching out to help any one of all ethnicity to return to school.

What I Learned
From my interview, I received a lot of information. I found out that even if you dropout of school, you still can succeed in life. I also learned that not everyone chooses to dropout, but because of bad decisions they made in their life they had no choice but to dropout of school. From class the other day, my classmates gave me a lot of good ideas on whom I should interview next. They suggested that I interview a teenager who dropped out of school or their friends; a student that is struggling in school now and is thinking about possibly dropping out; a social worker; an employer and their values of an employee; or a top student who is being pressured by their family to do good. From these suggestions I have decided to interview OPA (Orange Preparatory Academy) social worker, Mrs.Berry. I chose to interview her because I have a close relationship to her and i would be able to contact her to schedule an appointment for the interview. The other candidates my classmates suggested to me would take a bit longer to find but with determination I would get my word out about dropouts!

Hypothesis
What leads students to drop out of school? Is it because of drug abuse? Family problems? Peer pressure? Or the work being too hard?
Adolescents go through a lot of stress, from inside and outside the school building, and they tend to face consequences at school. Adolescents find it easier to drop out of school then to face any problem they are facing
